Homeschool Back to School

Homeschoolers. It's Back to School Time. For us this means:

1.  Some homeschool planning time. Gather the kids and have them declare a first step on your back to homeschool school planning:
- What do they want to learn this year?  Why?
- What do they feel that they should learn this year but don't want to? Why?
- What did they like about the homeschool program from last year?
- What did they not like about the homeschool plan from last year?
- How do they want their success in learning to be measured?
- What other thoughts to they have?

2. You, the parent, should also make some declarations along the same lines?
- What curriculum have you been thinking about?
What do you want to be more involved in?
What do you want them to take more responsibility for?

3. Shopping. Somehow, this always part of the process. What new things, books, gadgets, would make this feel like an exciting more efficient new year?  A few luxuries are a great idea.

4. Team and resources. Think hard about how to get access to more expertise and teachers and resources from within your community? What parts of the government, businesses, or just community is there to help you this year?

5. Finish your inventory.

Now, Back to School

More to come on setting a back to school curriculum, back to school schedule.
